JLS Spring Socialdate: 2025-06-05

On June 6th, 2025, JLS hosted its traditional spring social, consisting, among others, of drinks at Picnic, a beautiful restaurant in the Fishtown section of Philadelphia, and afterward, an excellent dinner at Little Walters, a Polish fusion restaurant serving not only excellent Polish inspired food but serving it on beautiful Polish ceramics from Boleslawiec.

Picnic is housed in a 140-year-old former brewery building, transformed into an airy, open, and welcoming space featuring excellent food, a well-curated wine selection, and a diverse range of drinks.

A few minutes away is located Little Walters, a Polish American restaurant in the Fishtown aka East Kensington section of Philadelphia, offering a unique blend of traditional Polish cuisine with a modern twist. The restaurant is renowned for its wood fired meats, handmade kielbasa, sourdough rye bread, and pierogi, offering an immersive dining experience that introduces guests to authentic Polish cuisine. Its founder, Michael Brenfleck, is a seasoned veteran of restaurant industry in Philadelphia and Little Walters pays tribute to his Polish grandfather by showcasing a fusion of culinary traditions from Poland mixed with contemporary influences.

We not only had a great time, but we also had many chats about the future of JLS and the direction it should take.

As a result of these many conversations, a survey will be sent to the general membership. We would greatly appreciate your input on how to take JLS into the future and how to serve our community best.
